SUNBURY (AP) – A 65-year-old Pennsylvania grandmother is going to prison in connection with the death of her baby granddaughter who was in her care.

A judge in Northumberland County on Thursday sentenced Bertha Dreese of Selinsgrove to 16 to 48 months in prison.

She was found guilty in August of involuntary manslaughter and related counts in the October 2010 death of 1-year-old Aneela Loner.

The child died of heat exposure after being left alone in a crib for nearly 20 hours next to a space heater operating on high.

The baby’s parents, Heidi Yocum and Lopaka Loner, pleaded guilty in 2011 to reckless endangerment and child endangerment and were also sentenced to prison time.
