PennDOT announces schedule for work

WAYNESBURG – Jerome Simkovic, Greene County maintenance manager for the state Department of Transportation, has announced the following tentative work plan for the week of Sept. 9.
Maintenance activities are conducted on a weather-permitting basis. Motorists should drive with caution through all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring the use of headlights.
The schedule is as follows:
• The bridge will remain closed on Route 221, Lippencott Road, in Morgan Township for the replacement of concrete pipe through Nov. 1. A detour is in place.
• Bridge rehabilitation will continue on Route 1021, Crucible Road, in Cumberland Township.
• Ditch cleaning and highway patching will be conducted on Route 21, West Roy Furman Highway, in Center and Richhill townships and inlet cleaning will be done on the road from the intersection of Route 1017, Kovalcheck Road, in Cumberland Township to the Fayette and Greene County line in Monongahela Township.
• Ditch cleaning is scheduled to be completed on Route 88 from Power Plant Road in Dunkard Township to Route 2027, Colvin Road, in Monongahela Township and inlet cleaning will be done from the Route 88 intersection with Route 2027, Colvin Road, in Monongahela Township to the Washington-Greene County line in Jefferson Township.
• Ditch cleaning, shoulder grading and stabilization will be done on the entire length of Route 1025, Stringtown Road, in Cumberland Township and on Route 2011, Bobtown Road, from the West Virginia line in Dunkard Township to the intersection of Route 2018, Kirby Road, in Greene Township.
•The bridge on Route 18, Browns Creek Road in Franklin Township, near the water dam is restricted to one lane and is controlled by traffic light. Traffic must stop when the signal is red to permit traffic with the green light to proceed. This site is permitted for 10- foot wide clearance maximums.
•Bridge replacement operations will be conducted on Route 18, Golden Oaks Road, in Freeport Township, near New Freeport. Traffic is restricted to one lane and controlled by a traffic signal. This site is permitted for 11-foot wide clearance maximums.
•Pipe replacement activities will take place on Route 3001, Windy Gap Road, in Springhill and Aleppo townships; Route 3007, Jacobs Run Road, in Richhill Township and Route 4010, Grange Road, in Gray Township.
•Bridge flushing and cleaning operations will occur on Route 3007, Blockhouse Run Road, in Gilmore and Jackson townships; and on Route 3008, Bloody Run Road and Route 3009, Toms Run Road, in Gilmore Township.
•The Greene County State Correctional Institution’s Community Work Program will pick up litter on Route 3013, Oak Forest Road, from Route 21 in Franklin Township to Brave in Wayne Township. Please drive carefully when encountering this moving operation.
•Inlet cleaning, shoulder grading, and cutting operations will be conducted on Interstate 79 throughout the Greene County corridor from Waynesburg to Ruff Creek. Signs will be updated, downed signs will be replaced and complaints will be addressed on various state routes throughout Greene County.
