WAYNESBURG – Dr. Jenny Jellison, assistant professor of psychology at Waynesburg University, recently presented a seminar titled “Educating While Entertaining – Remembering Why You Love It and Getting Them To Do the Same” at the fourth annual International Conference on Teaching Psychology in Vancouver, Canada.

Jellison gave her presentation in collaboration with a former student, Dr. Kristel Gallagher, assistant professor of psychology at Keystone College in La Plume.

“Our presentation was about stepping off the proverbial pedestal and being genuine with your students – communicating, collaborating and connecting with them in order to educate them.” Jellison said. “We advocated this approach because it not only effectively educates, it also inspires, and it makes our job a lot more enjoyable.”

Designed for teachers of psychology at universities, colleges and high schools who are interested in enhancing their teaching skills, exchanging perspectives and exploring new ideas, the annual International Conference on Teaching Psychology covers a wide range of issues related to the teaching of psychology.

Topics included classroom demonstrations, new teaching methods, recent advances in specialized areas of experimental and clinical psychology and issues of assessment.

This year’s conference featured psychology professors and professionals from 16 different countries.
