An 18-year-old South Franklin Township man was arrested Friday on charges he assaulted his estranged girlfriend last month at his home.
Jared Daniel Loughman of 65 Gayle Drive is accused of assaulting 19-year-old Jade Alexa Rea on Aug. 16. She reported the alleged assault to state police three days later. Rea told police she delayed in making the report because she was afraid and also wanted to seek medical treatment.
Rea told police that she was in Loughman’s bedroom with him when she started getting Facebook messages from other men. She said Loughman became angry and jealous. He allegedly punched her in the face and dragged her around the bedroom by her hair.
When Rea walked out onto the porch in an attempt to leave, Loughman allegedly started kicking her in the ribs and punching her in the arm. She told police that he went back inside the house and returned with a kitchen knife. He allegedly slashed her twice in the left leg before striking her in the leg with his necklace.
Loughman already had been charged by state police with harassment for reportedly repeatedly making photo calls to Rea’s Amwell Township home and her cellphone the day after the alleged assault. He also sent text messages, police said.
Loughman was arraigned before District Judge Robert Redlinger on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment and harassment. He was placed in Washington County jail on $20,000 bond. He also is being held on a juvenile probation detainer. A preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 16 before District Judge Ethan Ward.
