A fund has been established at Fifth Third Bank to help the family of Haylee and Abbie LaBarbera with out-of-pocket medical expenses.

The sisters were born with Recessive Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa, better known as EB, a rare skin condition that causes chronic, painful blistering that requires specialized care.

Haylee, 15, and Abbie, 11, daughters of Mark and Jen LaBarbera of North Strabane Township, make two or three trips per year to the EB Center at Children’s Hospital in Cincinnati to undergo surgeries and other procedures. The out-of-network costs are not covered by the LaBarberas’ medical insurance. The girls’ story was published in Sunday’s edition of the Observer-Reporter.

To make a donation, send checks to: Fifth Third Bank, 2620 Washington Road, Canonsburg, PA 15317. Checks also can be dropped off at any Fifth Third Bank in the Pittsburgh area.

For more information about making a donation, call the bank at 724-743-5860.
