A Finleyville man already facing charges for stealing ingots from a North Strabane Township business earlier this month was arraigned on more theft charges after it was determined he sold more items for scrap.

Craig Dean Koteles, 33, of 6231 Route 88, was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller on charges of theft and receiving stolen property for allegedly selling 514 pounds of stainless steel stolen from Ametek Metal, 1085 Route 519, and selling it at a McKeesport scrap dealer.

Township police Detective John Wybranowski said the theft of the stainless steel was discovered while police were investigating the theft of steel ingots. An employee was slightly injured when he was struck by Koteles’ vehicle as he tried to stop Koteles and another man earlier this month after they stole the ingots. He was charged with theft, simple assault, reckless endangerment, reckless driving and criminal mischief.

Koteles also waived both cases to court Monday. He remains free on $10,000 unsecured bond.

Wybranowski said police are continuing their investigation in an effort to identify the second man involved in the theft.
