Members of the Republican Party named a candidate to appear on the Nov. 5 ballot as a potential replacement for Donald Painter, who resigned from the South Franklin Township board of supervisors, of which he was chairman, on June 29 because he had moved from the township.

The committee members nominated William H. Cline of 3031 Dividend Drive, Washington, who is retired from Washington Hospital, to seek a four-year term on the board, according to documents filed with the Washington County elections office.
