A candidate for Washington County controller appeared Tuesday morning on a summary citation of harassment before a Peters Township district judge, who postponed a hearing in the case for 90 days.
Peters Township police charged Angela Carrier, 44, of McMurray, in connection with a confrontation with her ex-husband’s wife, Elizabeth Hulfish Carrier, 27, June 1 at the middle school, 625 E. McMurray Road.
Attorney Thomas Vreeland, who represents Elizabeth Carrier, asked that there be no contact between the women, especially at youth sporting events.
Peters Township Police Officer Don Heinlein said he had no objection to the continuance that was worked out between those involved.
Angela Carrier, a Republican, is challenging Washington County Controller Michael Namie, a Democrat who is seeking a fourth, four-year term. Outside the courtroom, Carrier’s attorney, Matthew Logue, said the incident centered on a custody dispute.
“I didn’t do anything that I’m ashamed of,” Elizabeth Carier said after the postponement.
Logue called the matter “a nullity” and said he expects the citation to be dismissed when the case is again called before District Judge James Ellis after the Nov. 5 election.
