GRAYSVILLE – Harveys Aleppo Grange held its recognition program earlier this month, honoring Marty Dinsmore as Granger of the Year; Graysville Fire Company as Community Citizens of the Year; and Jessica Black as the grange’s scholarship winner.

Dinsmore is a fourth-generation granger. She came up thru the ranks of the Juvenile Grange, serving in several offices. She received her Subordinate (local), Pomona (county), State and National Degrees and achieved her Golden Sheaf status this year with 50 years of continuous membership.

She is currently the Greene County Pomona Grange Master, or president. She has held office in the PA State Grange and is currently serving as Greene County Deputy to the state grange president.

She is an active member of the Nebo United Methodist Church, where she is a member of the board of trustees. She was instrumental in the formation of the Western Greene County Neighborhood Crime Watch and also chairs the grange’s Produce to People food distribution and the grange bingo, which is the fundraiser for their scholarship.

Graysville Fire Company is the local fire company where the grange is located. It is an independent fire company organized in 1931 and does not receive funding like other fire companies. The bingo is very important since it pays their bills. All of the fire company’s members were in attendance. The Food Pantry for the area is also held in their fire hall.

Jessica Black is the $500 Scholarship Recipient. She is a West Greene High School graduate and is now studying nursing at Waynesburg University, where she is also part of the university’s track team.

Grange members who have reached membership milestones were also recognized for their achievements. Dinsmore received her Golden Sheaf pin and certificate for 50 years of ontinuous grange membership. Herschel Moore received recognition for 10 years of service in the grange.

It was also announced that Harveys Aleppo Grange 1444 was recently named a Distinguished Grange by The National Grange. It fulfilled all of the requirements of this award, which will be presented at the National Grange session in November in Manchester, N.H. It will also be honored at State Grange in October in State College.
