PITTSBURGH (AP) – A Western Pennsylvania man already serving 90 to 180 years in prison in the rape of three juveniles has been convicted of another rape almost a quarter-century ago.

An Allegheny County jury deliberated for about three hours Wednesday before convicting 43-year-old Michael Lipinski of rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, burglary and robbery in the 1989 assault.

Charges were brought after detectives in the cold case unit requested that the DNA from the 1989 case be run against the FBI’s national database.

The DNA was matched to Lipinski, who was convicted in 2010 of three separate attacks between 1998 and 2005 on victims aged 3, 9 and 17.

Lipinski is scheduled for sentencing Thursday by Common Pleas Judge Donna Jo McDaniel.
