PITTSBURGH (AP) – A Western Pennsylvania man already serving 90 to 180 years in prison in the rape of three juveniles has been sentenced to decades more in prison following his conviction in another rape almost a quarter-century ago.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review said Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge Donna Jo McDaniel ordered 43-year-old Michael Lipinski to serve another 20 to 40 years consecutive to the earlier term.

The new charges were brought after detectives in the cold case unit requested that the DNA from a 1989 case be run against the FBI’s national database.

The DNA was matched to Lipinski, who was convicted in 2010 of three separate attacks between 1998 and 2005 on victims aged 3, 9 and 17.
