Two men already facing charges in connection with a string of burglaries in Canonsburg’s East End have been charged by Cecil Township in connection with a burglary of a home on McEwen Avenue earlier this month.
Justin Holiday, 26, of 416 Giffin Ave., Canonsburg, and Louis Fonagy III, 27, of Lawrence, are both accused in the Sept. 2 burglary at the home of Judy and David Homerosky, 1260 McEwen. Holiday is charged with burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary. Fonagy is charged with conspiracy to commit burglary.
Stolen from the home were two rings, including a wedding band with diamonds, a jar of change, cash and iPad case. Township police Detective Mark Marcucci said the stolen items were valued at $3,700.
Marcucci said the house was burglarized between 3:30 and 5 p.m. A neighbor who also is related to the victims told police that she saw Fonagy and Holiday walking through the neighborhood drinking cans of Coca-Cola. Two cans were stolen from a package that was on the back patio of the home.
The detective believes the two may have cased the house the week before.
“Their son confronted them as they came up the walkway,” Marcucci said. “When the son asked what they were doing, Fonagy told him they heard he (the son) lived there. Then they just left.”
After the burglary, David Homerosky asked his son for the names of the two who had been at the house, Marcucci added. The son identified them as Fonagy and Holiday. The niece also was able to identify them.
Holiday and Fonagy were charged Thursday with the burglary of the home of Ryan and Corey Zavada on Franklin Avenue Aug. 27.
Canonsburg police Sgt. Al Coghill said Thursday that he believes that two along with Jason Chadwick, 39, of North Strabane Township, are responsible for the 17 burglaries of businesses and unoccupied homes in the borough since May. A dozen of the break-ins were in the borough’s East End. Coghill said that Holiday and Fonagy either knew the habits of the residents who homes they targeted or would knock to see if anyone was home.
Holiday is in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond on the charges filed by Canonsburg.
Fonagy is in a treatment facility and will be arraigned after he is discharged. Both men will be arraigned on the new charges at a later date before District Judge Valarie Costanzo.
