Corbett aides, feds meet on Pa.’s Medicaid plan

HARRISBURG (AP) — A spokeswoman for Gov. Tom Corbett says his top aides felt that a meeting with federal officials on his Medicaid plan went well.

Spokeswoman Lynn Lawson says Corbett’s aides were enthused by Monday’s three-hour meeting in Baltimore.

It was the first such meeting since Corbett released his plan to use federal Medicaid expansion dollars to cover hundreds of thousands of uninsured adults.

However, lengthy negotiations could be required since Corbett is seeking changes to the Medicaid expansion envisioned President Barack Obama’s signature health care law.

Lawson says more meetings are expected, and there’s no date set for a federal decision on Corbett’s proposal. Administration officials say they believe their proposals are grounded in good policy, but are unable to say how much it would cost the state.
