A Canton Township man faces a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol after he reportedly hit a concrete barrier blocking West Pike Street at South Jefferson Avenue for Canonsburg’s Pennsylvania Bavarian Oktoberfest.
Canonsburg police had responded to a fight call at D’s Locker Room, South Jefferson Avenue, about 11:15 p.m. when they heard the sound of tires skidding just before a crash.
Police said they arrived to see Jason Gratchon, 43, of 460 Lynn Portal Road, putting his vehicle into reverse after hitting the barriers and reflective signs indicating “Do Not Enter.” Police waved him down and directed him to a nearby parking lot.
Gratchon reportedly told police he had looked down at his cellphone and did not see the signs. Police said his blood-alcohol content exceeded the 0.08 percent limit presumed for intoxication.
Police said no one involved in the fight at the bar wanted to pursue charges. One of those involved was taken to Canonsburg General Hospital for treatment.
