An 18-year-old North Strabane Township man was ordered held for court Wednesday for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl at his home this summer.

Ryan Matthew Davey, of 74 Christy Road, will stand trial on charges of rape, sexual assault, indecent assault and corruption of minors in connection with the reported rape of the girl June 15. Davey had a preliminary hearing in Central Court before District Judge Ethan Ward on the charges filed by township police Lt. Dan Levi.

When Assistant District Attorney Kristin Clingerman asked the 15-year-old why she was testifying, the girl responded “because Ryan Davey raped me.”

The 15-year-old said that she went to the Davey home for a sleepover. Several other young people were at the residence, including Davey’s younger sisters. She also said his mother was at home but was not sure about his father. During cross-examination, she said that she and several other people at the gathering, including Davey, consumed alcohol.

The girl said that she and Davey were arguing in the kitchen. She said she was angry with how he was treating her around his friends, saying he was acting “rude.”

Davey and the girl went outside to talk. She said they started hugging and kissing. They then sat on the bench, where the girl said she wanted to continue to talk with Davey. She said he was seated for only a short time when Davey stood up, took off his pants and put on a condom.

“I was shocked,” she said. “I told him to stop.”

She said they moved behind the bench onto the grass, where he reportedly continued the assault.

Under cross-examination, defense attorney Gary Gerson asked the girl several times if she tried to get away. The girl said the events happened quickly.

Davey, a student at Wheeling Jesuit University, is free on $50,000 unsecured bond.
