South Strabane supervisors on Tuesday night decided to delay a decision on whether to allow seismic testing under two township parks to search for natural gas.

McDonald Land Services recently asked municipal officials to allow it to perform the seismic testing on the township’s Community Park on Floral Hill Drive and Billy Bell Park on Manse Street.

Township Manager John Stickle said the supervisors tabled the motion because they “wanted to find out more information” about the proposal before making a decision.

“Right now, we’re just trying to gather more facts,” Stickle said.

In June, representatives from Range Resources presented a plan to conduct seismic testing under township roads.

The supervisors voted 3-0 to allow it.
