The seventh annual Senior Fair will be returning to Mt. Lebanon this fall. The informational event for senior citizens, hosted by state Sen. Matt Smith, D-Allegheny/Washington, will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 3 at The Galleria on Washington Road.
The fair will feature more than 100 exhibits with information about services and programs available to senior citizens. Local seniors will have the chance to speak with representatives from federal, state and local agencies, and applications will be available for the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program and the state’s prescription programs, PACE and PACENET.
Refreshments will be provided in addition to entertainment and educational demonstrations.
“We provide a one-stop shop for seniors to receive assistance from government agencies, organizations, and businesses that cater to seniors,” Smith said in a news release. “This also provides an invaluable opportunity for me to interact with local seniors directly and hear their thoughts and concerns.”
Seniors aged 65 and older are eligible to receive free health screenings and seasonal influenza immunizations. Seniors interested in the flu shot should bring their Medicare or supplemental insurance card.
“We can’t forget that face-to-face contact and information is still very important to older adults who may not have internet access … or any other way to learn about valuable programs,” Smith said.
