GRAFTON, Ohio (AP) – The mayor of a suburban Cleveland community is facing drunken-driving accusations after police say she crashed into a fire hydrant near her home.
The Lorain County Sheriff’s Office says Grafton Mayor Megan Flanigan failed field sobriety tests early Saturday.
Deputies say a local officer spotted a damaged hydrant and found a license plate belonging to Flanigan’s vehicle at the scene. Authorities say the vehicle returned to the scene with Flanigan at the wheel.
Flanigan was given a breath test at the county jail. Results were not immediately released.
Flanigan was issued a summons for charges including operating a vehicle while under the influence and failure to stop after an accident.
A phone listing for Flanigan was not available. She did not respond to requests for comment through her Facebook page.
