WAYNESBURG – Fourth-grade students at Waynesburg Central Elementary are participating in the “Forget-Me-Not” project for the 2013-14 school year.

Illene Richezza from the Alzheimer’s unit at the Golden Living Center, and Nancy Riggle of the Alzheimer’s Association, were invited into each classroom where they read “Grandma’s Cobwebs,” a book by author Ann Franti that explains the disease on a child’s level.

Each month the students will create crafts to be displayed in Alzheimer’s unit at Golden Living.

As a kick-off to the “Forget-Me-Not” project, the fourth-graders participated in an Alzheimer’s “Memory Walk.”

The Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s research, care and support.

The walk attracts people of all ages to take action in the fight against this devastating disease.

The Waynesburg Central Elementary School’s fourth grade Memory Walk was held and the school Sept. 12 and the students raised $2,413.25.
