Miss Rain Day applications are being accepted
Rain Day Scholarship Inc. is now accepting applications for the 2014 Miss Rain Day Scholarship Pageant.
The pageant, celebrating 36 years, will be held July 27 in the Jefferson-Morgan High School auditorium. The pageant is open to girls ages 14 to 18 as of July 29 and contestants must live in Greene County.
A banquet is planned May 20 at the Glass Room in Benedum Hall at Waynesburg University. The contestants will take part in many activities, including a dinner and theater trip, a Wild Things baseball game, community service project, rehearsals, photo shoots and the Rain Day Festival.
Each contestant will compete in a personal interview, sportswear, talent and evening gown competition.
Scholarship savings bonds will be awarded in the following categories: Miss Photogenic, Miss Personality, Rain Maker Award, Kelly Smotzer Memorial Award, Remo Bertugli Memorial Award, John O’Hara Award, top talent, evening gown winner, sportswear winner and personal interview winner.
The new Miss Rain Day 2014 and her court will serve as the guests of honor during this year’s Rain Day Celebration.
All contestants will be presented with a savings bond.
In the spirit of its mission, Rain Day Scholarship Inc. will continue to offer the Scholastic Achievement Award introduced in 2012.
This optional award recognizes a candidate for her outstanding academic achievements based on her current grade-point average.
The entry fee to compete is $60 payable before the May 2 deadline.
To enter the pageant between May 3 and May 6, the entry fee is $70 with the final deadline of May 6.
