A 24-year-old man from Peters Township was flown by medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh after he jumped from a bridge on the Montour Trail shortly before 4 p.m. Monday, Cecil Township police said.

The man’s name was not released and police said his condition was not known Tuesday.

The man alerted family members, who then called police shortly before the incident occurred. Police and emergency personnel from Cecil and Peters townships were able to respond to the remote site off Hahn Road, police said. He was discovered below the bridge next to Chartiers Creek, police said, and was flown to Pittsburgh from a nearby golf course.
