CHARLEROI – A few cuts on a suspect’s left arm provided a clue for police in Charleroi to make an arrest this week in back-to-back burglaries at a bowling alley.

A Charleroi Regional police officer asked Tiffany N. Courtley to show her arms and hands when she came into the station for questioning Monday because a trail of blood discovered at the crime scene indicated someone was cut while breaking into the building, court records state.

Police said Courtley, 33, of 1109 Lower Crest Ave., Charleroi, was told after she revealed her injuries that there would be a DNA analysis performed to determine if it was her blood discovered at Charleroi Lanes, 1301 Prospect Ave, after the business was burglarized Sunday.

At that point, police allege, Courtley confessed to that crime and to a break-in at the business April 11, both of which netted candy and nearly $1,000 from amusement games. The business also sustained $500 in damage from the break-ins.

Police alsoaccused Courtley of forging a check stolen March 18 from a residence on Shady Avenue while the victim was not at home.

Courtley was charged with three counts of theft, two counts each of burglary, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief and one count each of forgery and trespassing.

She was placed in Washington County jail on $300,000 bond set Monday by District Judge Larry Hopkins.
