Greene pleaders sentenced in court

WAYNESBURG – Several criminal defendants pleaded guilty this week before Greene County Judge Farley Toothman. They included:
Mary Annette Roberts, 49, of 145 Rices Landing Road, Rices Landing; offense – furnishing drug-free urine. Roberts was required to submit to random drug testing through Greene County adult probation for unrelated charges. On Dec. 4, Roberts brought a clean urine sample inside a condom to the probation office, knowing she would fail a drug test; sentence – one year probation, 25 hours of community service, $250 in fines, plus court costs and fees.
Charles David Maine, 62, of Wana, W.Va.; offenses – driving under the influence of alcohol and two summary traffic violations. Maine ran his vehicle over an embankment on the east side of Route 19 in Franklin Township on Sept. 13. He told police he swerved to miss an oncoming vehicle. Maine’s blood-alcohol content as 0.276 percent; sentence – 72 hours to six months incarceration, 75 hours of community service, $1,325 in fines, plus court costs and fees.
Bruce Alan Bundy, 26, of 145 W. Greene St., Waynesburg; offenses – forgery, receiving stolen property, and two counts of theft by unlawful taking. On March 30, 2012, he used a check from a business account in the name of John Hughes Sr. to secure $600 without Hughes’ permission. On July 2, 2013, Bundy took an electric saw, drill and various other construction tools from a dump truck owned by Michael Ames. On Nov. 30, while working at Pizza Hut in Waynesburg, Bundy stole $100 from a purse belonging to fellow employee Kimberly Lynn Hunley of Waynesburg; he will be sentenced at a later date.
Roger Lee Morris, 52, of 120 Fourth St., Waynesburg; offenses – DUI third offense and subsequent DUI incapable of safe driving, and four summary traffic violations. Police said Morris was swerving, crossed the center line, and failed to signal while turning on May 16 in Franklin Township. His BAC was 0.174 percent; Morris will be sentenced at a later date.
Stephen Stiles, 37, of 510 E. George St., Waynesburg; offenses – DUI, DUI incapable of safe driving and restriction on alcoholic beverages. Stiles was found slumped over the steering wheel of his vehicle in the parking lot of the Brodak’s Shop ‘n Save store in Carmichaels Aug. 10. His BAC was 0.254 percent; Stiles will be sentenced at a later date.
Peter Forgen, 56, of 505 E. Greene St., Carmichaels; offenses – DUI second offense, DUI incapable of safe driving, and two summary traffic violations. Forgen told police he swerved to avoid an accident on Oct. 11 when he lost control of his vehicle causing it to roll over in Morris Township. Forgen told police he could not perform field sobriety tests and had slurred speech due to an old gunshot wound to his head. Forgen’s BAC was 0.169 percent; he will be sentenced at a later date.
Roy D. Bickford, Sr., 79, of 20 W. Harvey St., Masontown; offenses – DUI second offense and two summary traffic violations. Bickford was injured June 9 in Cumberland Township following an accident. His vehicle struck the bumper of one driven by Edward Muscavitch of Sandy Plains Road in Clarksville. Bickford’s vehicle left the roadway, struck a telephone pole splitting it in half and spun around coming to a stop over an embankment; sentence -six months in the Greene County Intermediate Punishment Program with the first 30 days to be served under house arrest with a GPS and alcohol monitoring bracelet. He received no community service hours because of his age. Bickford will pay $550 in fines, plus court costs and fees.
Richard Allen Tennant, 35, of 45 ½ W. Lincoln St., Waynesburg; offenses – DUI second offense and six summary traffic violations. Tennant accelerated to a high speed while pulling away from a traffic light on Nov. 10 in Franklin Township. He was stopped at the intersection of Route 188 and Bill George Drive with a BAC of 0.230 percent; sentence – 90 days to five years in jail, deferred until April 18; 50 hours of community service; and $700 in fines, plus court costs and fees.
Ryan Curtis Scherich, 29, of 320 N. First St., Jeannette; offenses – DUI and one summary traffic violation. Scherich was arrested on April 27 after being pulled over for speeding on Route 21 in Jefferson Township. His BAC was 0.092 percent; sentence – six months’ probation, 25 hours of community service and $355 in fines, plus court costs and fees.
John Robert J. Fahey, 30, of 2214 Garards Fort Road, Waynesburg; offenses – DUI second offense, DUI incapable of safe driving and two summary traffic violations. Police pursued Fahey after he drove the wrong way on East George Street in Waynesburg Borough. Fahey’s BAC was 0.231 percent; he will be sentenced at a later date.
