Two women were injured Tuesday afternoon when a driver attempted to make a U-turn in the middle of Route 519 near Township Lane in North Strabane Township and was struck by another vehicle, township police said.

Elizabeth Wheatley, 48, of 112 Green St., Claysville, told police she missed her turn and was trying to turn around on Route 519 shortly after 1 p.m.

A car driven by Terry Mann, 50, of New Castle, was traveling behind her and could not stop in time, police said. Mann crashed into Wheatley’s van, causing heavy damage.

Wheatley and her passenger, Sherry Zasada, 41, of 533 S. Main St., Washington, suffered head, neck and chest injuries, and were taken to Canonsburg Hospital, police said. Mann was not injured in the crash.
