One of two men arrested last week by North Strabane Township police for stealing items from vehicles parked in the Meadowbrook plan again found himself in a Washington County Jail cell after it was determined that he is wanted on out-of-state warrants.
Mitchell Ward Conklin, 28, of 543 Railroad St., Houston, was initially released by District Judge Jay Weller on $10,000 unsecured bond after telling the judge he was not wanted on any other charges. But Weller put him in jail Tuesday on $25,000 after learning he was wanted on the warrants during his scheduled preliminary hearing. A new hearing date is scheduled for next month.
Conklin and Jarred Anthony Wise, 18, of 118 Second St., Houston, were charged with theft from a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property, possessing instruments of a crime and loitering and prowling at night after they were found in the early morning hours of April 22 in the housing plan. The two reportedly had items stolen from vehicles in their pockets or backpack.
Wise waived his charges to court Tuesday.
