A Fayette County man was arraigned Monday after turning himself in to authorities on charges he raped a young girl several years ago in Long Branch.

Scott Seman, 38, of New Salem, turned himself in at the office of District Judge Larry Hopkins, who arraigned him on charges of rape of a child, statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, sexual assault and aggravated indecent assault, court records stated.

California Borough police filed the charges last week against Seman at the office of District Judge Joshua Kanalis after the girl reported the alleged assaults to Washington County Children and Youth Services.

The girl claimed she was assaulted by the suspect when she was 3 to 5 years old. She is now 14 or 15 years old, police stated in the affidavit supporting the charges.

Seman was placed in Washington County Jail on $150,000 bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Aug. 13 in Central Court.
