The mother of a 3-year-old Fallowfield Township boy and her boyfriend, accused of abusing the toddler, waived their cases to court Thursday.

Shyann Marie Sanpietro, 24, of 930 Fourth St., Fallowfield, and Christopher Joseph Raible, 30, of Elizabeth were charged by state police with aggravated assault, simple assault and endangering the welfare of children. They waived their right to a preliminary hearing before District Judge Larry Hopkins.

The boy’s grandmother took him to Monongahela Valley Hospital July 3 after Sanpietro asked her to take the boy because he was not listening. The boy reportedly was covered with bruises and had burn marks on his stomach and leg.

The boy allegedly told both police and a doctor at Children’s Hospital of UPMC’s Child Advocacy Center that his “mom and dad” hit him.

Bond for Sanpietro was reduced from $200,000 to $100,000, while Raible’s bond was lowered from $100,000 to $60,000. Both are scheduled for formal arraignment on the charges Oct. 8.
