WAYNESBURG – Charges were filed by state police against a Waynesburg couple arrested Wednesday night inside a house they broke into at Fourth Street and Buchanan Avenue in Franklin Township.
Police were called to the unoccupied house owned by Habitat for Humanity at 10:15 p.m. after receiving a report two people kicked in the front door to enter the building.
Trent Alexander Buchanan, 22, and Cori Lea Scott, 24, both of 126 Fourth Ave., were found inside the house, police said.
Buchanan was in possession of a pistol that was reported stolen, a glass pipe with residue and a syringe.
Police said Buchanan told them that he and Scott earlier had been in an argument and he had kicked open the door of the vacant building so he and Scott could go inside to talk.
Buchanan and Scott were each charged with burglary, criminal trespass and criminal mischief. Buchanan also was charged with receiving stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The two face a preliminary hearing at 2 p.m. Aug. 18 before District Judge Lou Dayich.
