APOLLO (AP) – The president of a Western Pennsylvania environmental company was sentenced to eight months in federal prison and eight months of home confinement for defrauding the U.S. Navy.

The Department of Justice says 54-year-old Michael Fullard of Apollo was sentenced Friday. He was also ordered to pay $772,700 in restitution along with former Fullard Environmental Controls vice president, 46-year-old Barry Kent Peterson.

Prosecutors say that Fullard’s company provided false cost information for demolition work it did in 2007 in Beaufort, South Carolina. The $2.2 million job was awarded through a program for minority contractors. Fullard Environmental Controls said it would do most of the work, but instead hired a New Jersey company for $800,000.

Two former employees testified that Peterson, who also pleaded guilty, kept the fraud details from Fullard.
