PAWC workers back on the job

Union workers with Pennsylvania American Water Co. are back on the job after the two parties voted Saturday to ratify a new contract.
Local 537 workers had been off the job since June 18 in what the Pennsylvania Labor and Industry Board had ruled a lockout.
A Pennsylvania American Water spokeswoman said the new four-year contract was agreed upon last Wednesday, and workers were back on the job Monday.
“Both parties are very pleased that the contract issues are resolved and look forward to working together to continue to provide Pittsburgh area customers with the quality, reliable water service that they expect,” Josephine Posti said.
A representative with Local 537 could not immediately be reached for comment.
