A New Eagle man suffered serious head injuries when his motorcycle was struck by a car late Monday on Route 88 in North Charleroi.

Charleroi Regional police said Jesse James McGrew, 29, of 1121 Marion St., was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital, where he underwent surgery following the 10 p.m. accident. He also suffered a broken leg in the crash, police said.

McGrew, who was traveling south, was not wearing a helmet when he was thrown from his motorcycle, which collided with a northbound car driven by Richared M. Fauvie, 29, of 35 Tyler Ave., Charleroi, police said.

A witness told police Fauvie’s car crossed lanes into the path of the motorcycle. Fauvie complained of back pain and was treated at Mon Valley Hospital. McGrew’s condition was not immediately known.
