DUI checkpoint: State police said they arrested two motorists on driving under the influence charges and two other on drug charges Thursday night during a DUI checkpoint along Jefferson Avenue in Canton Township. Police said they also filed traffic citations against 20 drivers.

Copper stolen: A house at 1420 Reissing Road was entered through a rear door, and copper pipe and wiring were stolen, along with several lights and electrical wire, township police said. The items are valued at $500 to $600. The burglary was reported at 10:05 a.m. Thursday by the property owner, Charles Nimpfer.

Two-vehicle crash: State police charged Anthony DeMarco, 49, of Charleroi, with speeding after they said his tractor-trailer crashed into the rear of a car driven by Frank Davis, 62, Wheeling W.Va., about 4:30 a.m. Thursday while they were traveling east on Interstate 70 near the Claysville exit in Donegal Township. Neither driver was seriously injured in the crash, which blocked the left lane of the interstate.

Two-vehicle crash: No one was injured Friday morning in a head-on collision in which a sport utility vehicle rolled onto its side along Linden Road in North Strabane. Township police said Alexandra Perry, 22, of Venetia, was traveling east in her SUV near Wilson Road when she crossed the center line and crashed into a westbound pickup truck shortly before 9 a.m. Perry’s vehicle landed on its driver’s side door in a grass embankment. Neither Perry nor the other driver, whom police did not identify, was injured. Police said they are continuing to investigate the crash and could not say if Perry would face any citations.

Burglary: A tractor valued at $20,000 was stolen from the rear of a property in the 100 block of Lynda Lane, Venetia, before 1:27 p.m. Thursday, township police said. The New Holland diesel tractor was last seen Aug. 20.

Motorcyclist injured: A motorcycle rider, Fritz W. Wherry Jr., 44, of 109 Greenbriar Drive, McMurray, suffered face and head injuries after his motorcycle collided with a vehicle driven by Arnold M. Ruben, 70, of 850 Baldwin St., Castle Shannon, at 1:15 p.m. Thursday, township police said. The accident occurred at the intersection of East McMurray and Center Church roads. Ruben was not injured. Wherry was not wearing a helmet and refused medical transport, police said.

Trespassing: Mark Demchak, 48, of Wisebecker Lane, Monongahela, was cited for trespassing following an incident in the 4400 block of Finley-Elrama Road in Union Township on Aug. 2, Southwest Regional police said. Investigators did not elaborate on where Demchak was or why he was not allowed on the property.
