PITTSBURGH (AP) – Pittsburgh’s city council president issued a $20 fine against a colleague over what he called her disruptive behavior and “arrogant disregard” of the panel’s rules.

Bruce Kraus fined Councilwoman Darlene Harris on Friday after Harris took the president’s gavel, banged it several times and threw it at him. Harris also joked that Kraus “drank Kool-Aid,” a poke at his support of Mayor Bill Peduto’s administration. Earlier in the week she called Peduto’s chief of staff a liar.

Kraus says council rules permit him to fine members up to $20 for “disregarding the rules of order and decorum.”

Harris responded, “Bruce had a bad day, but we’re still friends.”
