MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) — A Monongalia County ex-convict who murdered four people last week purchased the weapon used in the killing spree online from another West Virginian.

A spokesman for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives says 39-year-old Jody Lee Hunt of Westover purchased the firearm about a year.

George Huffman says ATF traced Hunt’s gun to a Monongalia County resident who sold Hunt the gun via Facebook.

Hunt was barred from purchasing or carrying a firearm because he’s a convicted felon with criminal records in West Virginia, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. Huffman says the seller will not be charged.

Police say Hunt killed 45-year-old Douglas Brady, 43-year-old Jody Taylor, 28-year-old Michael Frum, and 39-year-old Sharon Berkshire on the morning of December 1. Hunt was later found dead in his truck.
