Robotics event to be held Saturday at Peters library

Peters Township Public Library will showcase its latest technology from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Robotics Scrimmage and Technology Career Fair at Peters Township Middle School. Admission to the event is free.
Library director Pier Lee will oversee demonstrations of the new MakerBot Replicator Generation 5 Desktop 3D printer and the Finch Robots, designed for computer science education by Carnegie Mellon’s CREATE Lab. Both items are part of the library’s new MakerSpace, which is currently being developed. The area will be a space where creativity is encouraged and individuals are supported in their efforts to seek out do-it-yourself solutions to everyday problems.
The event is sponsored by the Titanium Titans and the middle school. The Titanium Titans are a high school- level FIRST Robotics Team dedicated to workforce development and establishing a pipeline of younger students interested in science, technology, engineering and math.
First Technology Challenge Teams throughout Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Ohio will participate in the scrimmage event with qualification matches beginning at 10:30 a.m. and final rounds ending at 5 p.m.
Pittsburgh area companies will provide information about STEM-related career paths and opportunities.
Breakfast and lunch items will be available for purchase.
