APOLLO (AP) – Two women have been killed in separate crashes in Western Pennsylvania.

Police say 70-year-old Carol Lee Sells was struck by a car around 7:30 a.m. Thursday while crossing a street in Apollo.

She was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.

Police say 56-year-old Mary Ann Shaffer lost control of her minivan on ice and crashed head on into a tractor-trailer around 10 a.m. in Kittanning.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.
