WAYNESBURG – William Cleveland Schamp, 50, of 218 Second St., Mather, was sentenced last week to six months in the county’s intermediate punishment program after pleading guilty in September to driving under the influence of alcohol, his second offense in 10 years.

Schamp was arrested for DUI during a traffic stop Jan. 9 in Jefferson Borough. His blood-alcohol level was 0.130 percent. He previously pleaded guilty in 2009 to DUI for a Sept. 1, 2008, arrest for which he was sentenced to 30 to 60 days in jail.

As part of his sentence, Schamp wil serve the first 60 days on house arrest with GPS and alcohol monitoring. He was permitted to serve his sentence with work release and medical furlough privileges upon providing appropriate documentation to his probation officer.

Schamp also pleaded guilty to four summary traffic violations. He was ordered to pay $850 in fines plus court costs and fees and to serve 150 hours of community service.
