Action: As expected, the commissioners approved the revised Parks, Recreation and Open Space Plan and Master Plan for Cross Creek and Mingo Creek county parks. The board also adopted a resolution to allocate Local Share Account from casino gambling at The Meadows Racetrack & Casino to a project at Washington County Airport. The two amendments include $300,000 for consulting services to include environmental permitting, design and construction management to construct a concrete pad for a 100- by 120-foot hangar and $700,000 for infrastructure, site preparation, construction of connector taxiways, parking apron, roadway and utility extensions and construction of a concrete pad for another hangar.

At request of the Finance Department, the board approved the county’s property and casualty insurance premiums for the coming year, including $470,526, commercial; $27,602, health center; $4,837, county airport; $6,727, employee dishonesty; $34,249, umbrella coverage; and $108,177, public officials. The commissioners also renewed an agreement with Safety National for the county’s worker compensation program, a large-deductible plan with a premium of $269,200 of 2015.

Reappointments: Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission public participation panel: Tom Casciola, Michael Chromulak, Philip Fiamara, Sheila Gombita, Bob Griffin, Stephen Hall, Deb Keefer, Joe Kirk, Kathleen Kleinmann, Mike Kutsek, William McGowen, Susan Morgan, LueAnn Pawlick, Daniel Reitz, Bill Sember, Mary Lynn Spilak, Mary Stollar, Joe Thomas and Ned Williams.

Recognition: The commissioners thanked school personnel who helped recruit nearly 50 students to work as members of local election boards Nov. 4. They were William Callaway, Ringgold School District; Jeremy Fisher, Intermediate Unit I; and Mary Ann Berty and Shawn Trapuzzano, Trinity High School.

Announcements: All county offices will be closed New Year’s Day.

Next meeting: Annual salary board reorganization, 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 5, in the public meeting room of the Courthouse Square office building. The first meeting of the year for general county business is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, in the same location.
