Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania said Monday it will invest $1 million in infrastrucutre upgrades in Vestaburg. Southpointe-based Columbia said in a news release that more than 6,900 feet of natural gas main line will be replaced in the area as it upgrades existing steel pipe with plastic pipe. The company said the project is expected to last until August and will benefit the entire neighborhood.

About 145 customers along First, Second, Third, Fourth, Community, Hill, Station and Race streets will experience temporary service interruption as those customers are connected to the new gas main.

Construction will take place Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. with temporary lane closures during working hours only.

Columbia said it will make personal contact with customers prior to temporary service interruption and to schedule service restoration. Customers also will have their indoor meters moved to the outside of the premises and their service lines replaced. This work will be done at no additional cost to customers.
