ERIE (AP) – Authorities in northwestern Pennsylvania say there are no signs of foul play in the death of a Gannon University student found in an alley over the weekend.
Police said 21-year-old Abbrielle Brynda of Zelienople was found unresponsive Saturday afternoon between two downtown buildings in Erie. She was taken to UPMC Hamot, where she was pronounced dead shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday.
Erie police chief Randy Bowers said authorities treat the death of any young person found under such circumstances as suspicious, but have no reason to believe foul play is involved.
Coroner Lyell Cook told the Erie Times-News that Brynda was “clearly not assaulted in any way” and the preliminary findings “are consistent with hypothermia.” Test results and a toxicology report won’t be available for a month or longer.
