JOHNSTOWN -The 5-year-old daughter of a Western Pennsylvania woman jailed on drug and child endangerment charges was able to describe her mother’s heroin use in detail and even say who brought her mother the drugs, police said.

Tyanne Hamer, 20, of Johnstown, faces a preliminary hearing Feb. 11 on charges she possessed drugs and endangered her 5-year-old daughter and her two other young children, a 3-year-old and a 4-month-old.

Police said Hamer tossed the infant across the couch when told she was being arrested Friday, before her eldest child told officers about her mother’s drug use.

“That’s what Mommy puts on the spoon,” the girl told police, pointing to a small bag of heroin like the one she told police a man named “Tone” brings her mother all the time. “She adds a little water, then puts her lighter under it until it boils.”

The girl went on to tell police that her mother then puts the boiling mixture into a needle that her mother uses to inject the drugs, according to a criminal complaint.

“It’s sad that the mother was not only doing it but would corrupt her child this way by letting her know how to do it and why she does it and the purposes,” Johnstown police Capt. Andrew Frear said. “It’s ridiculous.”

Hamer remained in Cambria County Prison Tuesday. Her children have been placed with relatives.
