Beaver County may have first heroin-fentanyl death

AMBRIDGE, Pa. (AP) — Police say a woman who overdosed earlier this week may be the first in that western Pennsylvania county to die from fentanyl-laced heroin being blamed for at least 22 other deaths in Pittsburgh and surrounding counties.
Police in Ambridge, Beaver County, are warning drug users to avoid heroin stamped with the street name “Thor” which was found when the 48-year-old woman died Tuesday.
Attorney General Kathleen Kane has blamed heroin laced with the powerful synthetic morphine and labeled “Theraflu” or “Bud Ice” for the other fatalities. But Kane also believes dealers may be re-branding the dangerous drugs with other street names because of negative publicity surrounding the overdoses.
The Beaver County Times reports the coroner’s office is also testing heroin labeled “Income Tax” and “ObamaCare” to see if it contains the deadly mixture.
