Several pleaders sentenced in county court

WAYNESBURG – A number of criminal defendants pleaded guilty Wednesday before Greene County Judge Farley Toothman and were sentenced:

Darell Marice Spruill, 24, of 238 W. Church Ave., Masontown; offenses – 10 counts each of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and criminal conspiracy; one count delivery of a controlled substance; 11 counts possession of a controlled substance; and five counts criminal use of a communications facility; between Nov. 21, 2012, and March 28, 2013, Spruill and Felicia Walters on 10 occasions sold crack cocaine and marijuana to a confidential informant and a detective working for the drug task force; sentence – 9 to 23 ½ months in jail $1,500 in fines, 250 hours of community service.

Douglas Edward Weighley, 35, of 62 E. Elm St., Waynesburg; offenses – driving under the influence of alcohol and two summary traffic violations; arrested Sept. 2, Weighley had a blood-alcohol level of .178 percent; sentence – 72 hours to 6 months in jail, $1,120 in fines, 50 hours of community service.

Jonathan C. Balazick, 28, of 114 Long St., Rices Landing; offenses – theft and receiving stolen property; Oct. 10, Balazick stole a woman’s purse in the Giant Eagle store in Rices Landing; a store clerk was able to grab the purse from Balazick as he fled the store; sentence – 32 days to 23 ½ months in jail, credit for 32 days served; $500 fine, 50 hours of community service.

Kelsy Marie Kashycki, 23, of 374 Sherman Ave., Nemacolin; offenses – theft, receiving stolen property, access device fraud; between May 22 and Nov. 14, Kashycki used her roommate’s debit card to make purchases and pay bills without her roommate’s authorization; sentence – 7 years of probation, $750 fine, 250 hours of community service; $8,007 in restitution.

Jason Ryan Rush, 33, of 287 Huffman St., was sentence by Toothman Monday after pleading guilty Sept. 25 to possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, delivery of a controlled substance, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia; on April 27, 2101, Rush sold 10 stamp bags of heroin to a state police confidential informant; on April 22,2013, a search of his home revealed 54 stamp bags of heroin, marijuana, syringes and smoking devices; sentence – 2 years in the state intermediate punishment program, which includes 7 months in prison followed by alcohol and drug treatment and supervision; three additional years of Greene County probation and $750 in fines.

Wendy Richelle Croghan, 35, of 1405 Lantz St., Waynesburg, pleaded guilty and was sentenced for theft and possession of a controlled substance; between March 1, 2012 and March 6, 2013, Croghan, a licensed practical nurse at the Golden Living Center, stole 145 Oxycodone pills from the nursing home; sentence – 5 years of probation, $500 fine, 225 hours of community service, $500 in restitution to the Golden Living Center.

Paula M. Gaskill, 38, of 99 N. Water St., Masontown, who pleaded guilty Oct. 23 to three counts of bad checks and on Dec. 2 to an additional three counts of bad checks was sentenced Thursday by Toothman. Between Nov. 19, 2012 and May 12, 2013, Gaskill wrote five bad checks and used another person’s identity to open an account with Atlantic Broadband; sentence – 12 to 36 months in prison, $300 fine, $796.17 in restitution.
