A North Strabane Township woman was arrested Sunday night on a warrant obtained by township police after they responded to her home three times in less than two hours early Friday.
Jamie J. Belfiore, 51, of 1347 Meadowbrook Drive, was charged with three counts of harassment and one count of activating a false alarm.
Police responded about 2:10 a.m. Friday when a next-door neighbor reported hearing loud noises coming from Belfiore’s home. The neighbor told police it was a loud, vibrating sound that made it difficult for her to sleep. She also told police the noise would last about five minutes, then stop for 45 minutes. The noise had been going on since about 9 p.m. Thursday, the neighbor told police.
When they went to Belfiore’s home, she denied making any noise.
Three minutes after they left, police received an alarm from Belfiore’s home. Police knocked on her door and rang the doorbell, but they said she refused to respond even though an officer said he could see her looking down at them from a window.
Police were called again by the neighbor about 3:45 a.m. with another report of noises coming from Belfiore’s home. Police said they warned Belfiore she was going to be charged.
Belfiore was charged in a similar case last year. Police cited her for harassment Oct. 23 for allegedly banging on the common wall she shares with the same neighbor at least six times and yelling profanities. When police were outside, they said they could hear her yelling profanities. Police indicated in court documents they had been called to the Belfiore home six times since August.
Belfiore is awaiting trial on the charge after she was held for court by District Judge Jay Weller following a Dec. 3 preliminary hearing.
In the latest case, Belfiore was arraigned before District Judge Curtis Thompson and released from Washington County jail after posting $250 of a $2,500 percentage bond. A preliminary hearing is set for Feb. 20 before Weller.
