MONACA (AP) – Authorities say the body of a man was found after a house fire in Western Pennsylvania.

Fire crews in Beaver County were called to the Potter Township residence shortly after 8 a.m. Wednesday.

Fire chief Vicki Carlton said the single-story home was “an inferno” when firefighters arrived.

Coroner Teri Tatalovich-Rossi said the body was found in the rubble of the basement hours after the flames were extinguished.

Dental records will be used to confirm the identity of the victim, who is believed to be the husband of a 76-year-old woman who was able to escape the fire.

Carlton said a state police fire marshal will try to determine the cause of the blaze, which was fueled by oxygen tanks, an acetylene welding system and a home heating oil tank.
