A West Mifflin man was placed in Washington County jail early Friday after being arrested by Monongahela police following a two-vehicle accident Route 88 and Washington Avenue, Finleyville, according to an affidavit filed in the office of District Judge James Ellis.
Jeffrey John Martinez, 43, of 307 Village Lane, was charged with possession with intent to deliver, possession of a counterfeit substance, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while suspended, driving while suspended-DUI related and careless driving.
Police said Martinez’s pickup truck struck the rear of another vehicle at the intersection at 8:26 p.m. Thursday. The two drivers pulled their vehicles to the parking lot of the Finleyville Sunoco, where the other driver called police. Neither driver was injured.
Police said Martinez and his truck were searched, and officers found more than $1,000 in cash, a total of 30 bags of suspected heroin, a spoon and four cellular telephones that rang continuously during the arrest.
Police said Martinez also was found to be driving on a license that was suspended in 1992, and also had been suspended for a prior DUI.
He was arraigned before Ellis at 12:30 a.m. Friday and jailed on $25,000 bond.
