Chartiers officials looking for residents suggestions
Chartiers Township officials are still looking for guidance from residents as to what sorts of recreational activities they would like to see at the parks and the new community center set to open in the coming months.
Late last year, the township sent a survey to all of the residents seeking suggestions. But only about five percent of the residents responded, said Jodi Noble, township manager. The survey is now available on the home page of the township’s website at www.chartierstwp.com.
“We are keeping the survey up on the home page to give residents another option to respond,” Noble said. “We’d like to get a response closer to 10 percent, if not more.”
The dozen questions ask residents how long they have lived in the township, how often they visit the parks, what activities they have participated in and what programs they would like added. There also is a section for comments about the township’s park system, recreational programs and open space.
“As we look at the future of the park system, we want to hear from residents as to what they think will work and what they would use,” Noble said. “Walking trails has been one of the amenities with the largest number of suggestions. Fitness programs are also something we will address when we open the community center.”
Noble said the township wants to create the amenities and classes to fill the needs of the residents.
“We didn’t want to base what is done on the suggestions of a few people on different committees,” Noble said. “We want to touch a variety of demographics to try and address the needs.”
Noble said residents who still have the mailed copy of the survey can submit it to the township office.
