Two organizations announced applications are available for their respective scholarships for Greene County students.

The Ralph K. Bell Bird Club of Greene County is accepting applications for its sixth annual scholarship to be awarded this April.

The $500 scholarship is open to any Greene County resident who will be graduating from high school this year, or is a freshman or sophomore in college.

Applicants must have at least a 3.0 grade-point average and write an essay of at least 500 words about “The Birds of Greene County.” Completed applications must be received by March 31.

For more information and applications, email Marjorie Howard at rkbbirdclub@yahoo.com or call 724-852-3155.

Town and Country Garden Club of Rices Landing awards a $1,000 scholarship each year. The scholarship is good for one academic year and is awarded to a student in one of the five Greene County School Districts.

Graduating seniors who are pursuing an education in environmental studies, conservation, ecology, forestry, horticulture, landscape design, education or science are eligible to apply.

Qualifying students should contact their respective guidance counselors for application and additional details. The deadline to apply is April 30.
