WAYNESBURG – Greene County commissioners are expected today to approve an increase in the per diem rate of in-county agency foster parents.

The request to increase the rate for $17 to $25 came from Karen Bennett, director of the county’s human services department.

Following the commissioners’ agenda meeting Wednesday, Bennett said its is becoming more difficult to recruit foster parents in Greene County. “Sending kids from Greene County to other counties is becoming very expensive,” she said. She hopes by increasing the rate, more families will consider becoming foster parents.

The commissioners also are expected to approve time extensions with Widmer Engineering for either final or preliminary designs for repair or replacement of six bridges in the county.
