As part of the ongoing Washington County property reassessment, commercial data collection is scheduled to begin Wednesday in Canonsburg, according to Robert Neil, project manager for the county and former chief assessor.

Tyler Technologies Inc. of Moraine, Ohio, which has a $6.9 million contract with the county, plans to have two commercial data collectors working in the borough. Commercial data collection in the City of Washington should be completed next week.

The county commissioners in August reluctantly agreed to enter into a reassessment contract after five years of litigation with the Washington and McGuffey school districts. Property owners should be receiving county and municipal tax bills based on the new assessments for 2017.
